EPCOY 2.0

Environmental Prototypes: Compounds of Yesterday, 2018

EPCOY 2.0, Environmental Prototypes: Compounds of Yesterday, is an installation of media sculptures that simulates a world of discarded relics discovered on the bedrock of New York City’s waterways. Included in the media sculptures are animated scenes from Nelson’s film Aquacade, about underwater NYC history (including the prohibition of pinball machines).  EPCOY plays on the abbreviation of EPCOT: Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, to explore the idealisms of "edutainment," aesthetics of the theme park world experience, and their relationship to time.
