The thesis film Aquacade travels through a strange moment in NYC history: following the prohibition of pinball machines and its demise into the east river in 1942, only to discover a strange universe of other past histories discarded underwater. The experimental quality of the film is to blend nostalgia, discovery, and wonder of unseen history. The film connects historical moments told through collaged animation techniques. 2D, 3D, and stop motion are combined in the film. The validity of animation in non-fiction and documentary film is explored and connected with the construction of this film.
